Stories from the pub

Dating back to 1749 in the heart of Ayr, The Tam o' Shanter Inn is steeped in centuries of folklore, laughter, and Scottish heritage. Here is the spirit, history, and poetry woven into every single stitch of our apparel.

The bard, the folklore, and our threads

Our pub was immortalised by Robert Burns in his legendary 1791 poem 'Tam o' Shanter'. Today, we bring those immortal lines to life through premium t-shirts and jumpers, carrying iconic verses such as "Auld Ayr, wham ne'er a town surpasses, for honest men and bonie lasses". Each garment allows you to wear a genuine slice of Scottish literary history wherever you go.

Ayrshire's finest pint of Guinness

At The Tam o' Shanter Inn, serving exceptional stout is a craft we take to heart. We have proudly poured Guinness for years, earning a reputation for delivering one of the very best pints in all of Ayrshire. Our bartenders take immense pride in every slow, two-part pour, ensuring that velvety head and rich, smooth finish you expect from a proper pub. Pull up a stool, settle into our centuries-old atmosphere, and enjoy a truly legendary pint with us.

When Walt Disney fell for Ayr

One of our favourite historic chapters is Walt Disney's deep fascination with Robert Burns and Scottish lore. In 1966, while presenting his visionary concepts for EPCOT, Disney even featured a design inspired by The Tam o' Shanter Inn. It stands as a proud testament to how our historic corner of Ayr has captured imaginations worldwide across the centuries.

A warm welcome under our thatched roof

Recently, our beloved inn was treated to a traditional thatched roof restoration, taking over two weeks of meticulous craftsmanship to preserve our historic exterior. Whether you visit us in Ayr for a dram of whisky, a pint of local ale, or to pick up an online clothing order, you will always find a friendly, safe space filled with good conversations.

"Walking into The Tam o' Shanter Inn is like stepping straight into Scottish history. The atmosphere is second to none, the staff are endlessly welcoming, and the quality of their Burns-inspired jumper is fantastic."
